Simon's interests include socialising, sport and family; these have been re-ordered somewhat of late with Oliver Fitch (4) and tbc Fitch (arriving May) taking centre stage, but he still tries to find some time for the first two.

INTO signs partnership with MMU

INTO is delighted to announce a new partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University, (MMU); an agreement that deepens the already strong relationship between INTO Manchester and the University.

'Everyone at INTO Manchester happily welcomes the opportunity to work more closely with colleagues at Manchester Metropolitan University so that our current and future students can progress there even more smoothly than they have done so in the past,' said Dawn Abbott, Centre Director at INTO Manchester. 'It is a great opportunity for our students and for INTO Manchester'. In the agreement which was signed on Friday 2nd March 2012, INTO will extend its relationship with MMU to cover the development of the MMU-specific pathway programmes and international student recruitment support for all students interested in the University.

Erimm Mahmoud, Director of MMU International, said- 'The University is excited to be entering into this new phase with INTO University Partnerships, a development which will help the University achieve its ambitious international vision whilst providing a first-class student experience for students around the world'.

Manchester Metropolitan University is one of the largest universities in the UK, with a history dating back over 150 years. They offer impressive facilities designed to enhance students' learning- from remarkably equipped lecture theatres and teaching rooms, to specialist facilities and cutting-edge laboratories. In addition to this, each campus has extensive libraries, with over 750,000 books, not including e-books, e-journals and articles all available for students to access online, 24 hours a day. Students on the INTO Manchester MMU programmes will benefit from direct access to these facilities, which will include the brand new Business School opening in September 2012.

Andrew Colin, Chairman of INTO, said- 'I am delighted to welcome Manchester Metropolitan University to the INTO network. Outside of our existing joint venture partners, MMU received the largest number of students from our pathway programmes. This new development will allow us to work together to extend the University's global reach and to bring top quality, professionally-focused education within reach of thousands of students worldwide'.

This new collaboration comes after more than 114 students have transferred to MMU from the INTO Manchester centre in the past two years, making it the largest recipient of INTO students outside of the joint venture network. It has increased options to students seeking to study in Manchester, one of Europe's top student destinations. Under the agreement INTO will provide recruitment and support services for MMU, giving the University direct access to INTO's 28 offices and network of over 700 education counsellors' worldwide, and application processing services for pathway students and support for those who wish to apply directly to the University.

The agent FAM trip to MMU will take place next month, from April 22nd- 25th.

Two new graduate pathway programs at USF

INTO University of South Florida is proud to announce two new Graduate Pathway programs for fall 2012: The Graduate Pathway in Management and the Graduate Pathway in Exercise Science.

The Graduate Pathway in Management leads to a Master of Science in Management (M.S.M.), a business degree designed to challenge and develop students into skilled leaders who thrive in today's global economy. A dynamic, well-focused program, the M.S.M. prepares business thinkers for leadership success through the study of interpersonal and organizational dynamics, communication skills, organizational change and implementation, and a curriculum delivered through case studies, group projects, videotaped role-playing, and relationships with prominent figures from businesses in the local community.

Graduates of the USF College of Business have been selected for highly competitive internships at companies such as Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase and T. Rowe Price, and several have been offered positions with national firms such as Microsoft and The Nielsen Company.

The Graduate Pathway in Exercise Science leads to a Master of Science in Exercise Science, a program that prepares exercise science professionals equipped to meet the increased intellectual and physical needs of their clients and guide them in understanding and participating in daily physical activity for lifelong health. Students pursuing the Master of Science in Exercise Science degree can choose one of three concentrations: Health & Wellness, Strength & Conditioning or a general track.

Graduates of the Exercise Science program at the University of South Florida have the foundation to become exercise science professionals working in leadership roles in areas such as corporate fitness, corporate health and wellness promotion, all levels of athletics and wellness, personal fitness training, sport performance, private fitness (management and instructional), strength & conditioning, and research.

Celebrations and Showcases at INTO Centres

This month saw a number of events at INTO Centres around the world as we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day, Nowruz, and the hidden talents at INTO OSU!

INTO Queens celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day was commemorated in the traditional Northern Ireland way by INTO Queens, who pulled out all the stops for students to experience this traditional celebration in its homeland!

The centre kicked the party off on Friday- the building festooned with shamrocks and banners, with staff and students getting in to the spirit by wearing green and donning leprechaun hats! They held a small party in the evening, a creative affair with green lemonade, pots of gold coins (chocolate that is) all organised by marketing intern, Chris Preece who whipped out his guitar and brightened the festivities with traditional Irish songs. "It was a fantastic day and a pleasure to perform for the students, the guitar got everyone in good spirits and a great time was had by all", said Chris.

The celebrations continued on Saturday 17th March, where students joined locals in following the annual St. Patrick's Day carnival parade around the streets of Belfast.

Nowruz at INTO University of East Anglia

Students and staff at INTO University of East Anglia celebrated Nowruz in style - with a little help from our Persian students! With the reception area decorated using hand-made decorations, everyone at the centre enjoyed welcoming in the Persian New Year. Catherine Baker, an English Language Teacher said "It was interesting for us to learn that this New Year celebration coincides with the Spring Equinox. A meaningful tradition that was prepared with dedication to share with all of us at INTO UEA". Rachel Watkins, Marketing and Communications Coordinator at INTO UEA added, "It was the first time that I've celebrated Nowruz and I thought that the decorations were wonderful. It is always inspiring to see our students sharing their national festivals and celebrations with one another".

INTO OSU showcase their talents for INTO Giving!

INTO OSU's recent Talent Show brought in a huge audience of students, staff, faculty and community members. Elbow the Clown (aka Academic English Coordinator, Erich Cutler) entertained the audience with magic, and an Irish folk song performance by Bob Gilmour (Director of Academic Programs), Michelle Scholz (Instructor) and Natalie Aldarondo (Learning Center Assistant) had the audience clapping along. A funky poppin' and lockin' dance performance by former INTO OSU Pathway student Zihan Wang from China, and an Oud performance by Waleed Alqahtani from Saudi Arabia, made the show really special. Each paid $5 or $7 to attend, all of which was donated to INTO Giving.

Special thanks go to Benjamin Kibler for organizing the event, and to the awesome volunteers who helped!
