The centre is currently based in Kensington Terrace, refurbished
university buildings on the centre of campus. It is the primary
location for INTO Newcastle University and is home to the key
administrative sections and staff, as well as all of the teaching
and management staff. In addition, there are a good many INTO
classrooms at Kensington Terrace. Students live in university
accommodation on campus.
Newcastle is carrying out one of the most significant periods of
development within its 170-year history. A £200 million
transformation of the University's building and infrastructure and
public spaces is taking place and will include new music and
medical buildings, accommodation and administrative services. INTO
is playing an integral and complementary role in this development
with a brand new centre, bringing new teaching facilities and
accommodation for international students. The new state-of-the-art
centre will provide residential accommodation with approximately
540 bedrooms, substantial and flexible teaching areas, and
comfortable communal spaces. It is expected to open in 2012.
