Newcastle University is a member of the Russell Group, a collective of the country's top 20 research-intensive universities. It has a tradition of academic excellence stretching back over 175 years.
Newcastle University has a population of approximately 19,000
students, of which about 2,000 come from outside the UK. It
boasts more than 200 undergraduate degree courses and
is regularly ranked in the top
20 universities in the UK in terms of graduate
employability.
The Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008 found Newcastle
had carried out world-leading or internationally
excellent research in all 38 of its taught subject
areas.
As well as its main campus in the heart of Newcastle
city centre, the University also has two overseas campuses: the
marine international campus in Singapore which specializes in the
teaching of naval architecture, and Newcastle University Medicine
Malaysia (NUMed), which delivers medicine programmes to
international students.
